This City Has The World’s Tallest Statue Of Swami Vivekananda

The world's tallest statue of Swami Vivekananda which is 35-ft. tall, was unveiled in Udupi district of Karnataka. The statue was inaugurated by Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade Dharmadhikari of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala in the premises of newly built Sarvah Kshema Hospital and Research Foundation last week.

This statue at Udupi is tallest compared to the one at Ranchi which is 33 ft tall.

Along with Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade the statue was also inaugurated by Dr. H.R. Nagendra, Vice Chancellor of Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana, Bengaluru.

Speaking after unveiling the statue, H.R. Nagendra said to a daily that efforts were on to bring a regulatory body for the disciplines of Yoga and Naturopathy.

D. Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala, said that Yoga and Naturopathy was now known all over the world. India should export Yoga and Naturopathy to the rest of the world. It was Swami Vivekananda who showed the glory of the country to the rest of the world, he said.

According to Swami Vivekananda, Yoga was not just about “asanas”, but a way of life. Stress was now a big issue in the world and there is an increase in lifestyle diseases. According to him, Yoga was the best antidote to stress and its related problems.

A Bill regarding an initiative to encourage Yoga and Naturopathy was likely to be introduced in the Parliament shortly, reports read.
