“Why You Need A Job? Sit In Dharna Against CAA…Get Rs.1K, Biryani”

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An employer in Dubai has asked a candidate who sought a job in his company to go and sit in a dharna, organized by women against CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) at Shaheen Bagh, New Delhi.

An email from the prospective employer has shocked one Abdullah of Thiruvananthapuram asking him to sit in dharna instead of seeking a job. Jayanth Gokhale while replying to series of mails from Abdullah mentioned that “Why you need a job from my company? Just think of going to Delhi and sit in a dharna at Shaheen Bagh, where you will get Rs.1000 per day, a biryani packet, tea and milk along with sweets”.

The email started trending with the screenshot shared by Abdullah and netizens took serious objection on the content of email which is considered as offended the women staging dharna and also about the religion of Abdullah, though the employer not said anything against the religion of the job-seeker.

S.S. Abdullah, a native of Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, has been staying in Dubai on a visiting visa for nearly a month now. All this time he has been sending emails after emails, in search of a job. However, when some media houses contacted him, he confirmed the news, but did not want to make the issue big. He also said that he has not put the email directly in social media Abdulla, on receiving the email, was shocked by the response and forwarded it to his brother’s friend with whom he was staying in Dubai. The friend had sent it to another person who put it out on social media and then the post got viral.

“I am a mechanical engineer and every day that I have been in Dubai, I have sent hundreds of emails seeking jobs. Through whatever contacts I come to know about job opportunities, I send out an application – it can come from Whats App or Telegram groups or else job portals on the internet. It is to one such email that I sent this particular application,” Abdullah says.

When the email became a topic of discussion, Abdulla received an apology letter from Jayant who wrote that he is more than 70 years old and not well, and he didn’t mean what he wrote.

On the other hand, Abdullah also said that he was told that a case was registered against Jayant Gokhle. But a Delhi based lawyer Samar Inam Khan posted a tweet that his team has worked on the case of Jayant Gokhale who then sought apology from the UAE Govt. "He was forgiven," the tweet adds.
