Happy To Be Back In Parliament: P Chidambaram

NEW DELHI: Former Finance Minister P Chidambaram, who arrived in Parliament on Thursday after spending 106 days in Tihar jail said that, "I am happy to be back," and that the government will not be able to suppress his voice in Parliament.

He also joined other Congress MPs protesting against the steep hike in onion prices in the Parliament complex. After the session the Congress leader addressed the media in the afternoon spoke on various issues and his imprisonment.

“ As I stepped out & breathed the air of freedom at 8 pm last night, my first thought & prayers were for the 75 lakh people of the Kashmir Valley who have been denied their basic freedoms since August 4, 2019,” he said.

He also said that as a Minister his track record was clear and so was his conscience Officers who have worked with me, business persons who have interacted with me and journalists who have observed me know that very well, he said. He also raised concerns about the political leaders who were detained without charges. “Freedom is indivisible, if we must preserve our freedom, we must fight for their freedom,” he said.

DMK President MK Stalin on Thursday spoke to Congress leader P Chidambaram and enquired about his health, a day after the former Union Minister came out on bail in the INX media case. Stalin spoke to Chidambaram over the phone and enquired about his health, a DMK release said.
