In Search of Fiance…Hyderabad Software Engineer Lands In Pak Custody

HYDERABAD/AMRITSAR: Two Indians, one of them from Visakhapatnam, has been arrested in Pakistan by Cholistan police when they tried to enter the country illegally, without proper documentation, visa or passport. The law enforcement agencies of Pakistan have filed a case against the two Indian men, named Prashanth Vaindam and Darilal, from Hyderabad and Madhya Pradesh respectively, when they crossed the border near Sriganganagar in Rajasthan and entered Cholistan desert area. Both were arrested by Pak troops on 14 November when they reached Yahzaman Mandi in Bahawalpur district in Pakistan.

The district cops have recorded a video with Prashanth and released it. In the video Prashanth after requesting to speak in Telugu said, “Everything is OK here. They have brought us from the police station to the court and will soon send us to prison. The Indian embassy will disclose further details once we go to jail. It is a possible jail period of one month but I can get bail, I can soon interact with you all', said Prashanth who originally hailed from Visakhapatnam but was living in Hyderabad.

IN SEARCH OF FIANCE: Some of the reports said that Prashanth left for Pakistan in search of his fiance with whom he fell in love through Facebook. It was also reported that the fiance is now in Switzerland and Prashanth wanted to reach Europe through Pakistan. Contradicting these reports, there was another version that Prashanth was not mentally sound and he went to Pakistan by mistake.

Prashanth son of M Babu Rao is said to be a native of Visakhapatnam and working as a software engineer in Hyderabad. Babu Rao along with his elder son Srikanth and younger one Prashanth moved to Kukatpally in Hyderabad from Mithilanagar of Madhurawada in Visakhapatnam after both of them got jobs here. They have been living there since 2017.Srikanth got married and they have a son and Prasanth is living in a joint family. The neighbors of Baburao in Ganga Apartments in Mithilanagar of Visakhapatnam said that the family members were nice people and both the sons were well behaved. They said that Babu Rao couple come to their flat once in six months and spend some days before leaving for Hyderabad.

Babu Rao said that he had also travelled to China and Africa earlier.

LEFT HYD IN 2017: Father of Prashanth who resides in Hyderabad told “Sakshi” that his son worked in Bengaluru about three years ago during which he fell in love with co-employee named Swapnika . After that he came to Hyderabad and joined another software company and he left the office in April, 2017. They had also filed a missing case in Madhapur police station.After one year of his missing, they got “some enquiry” from Pakistan and only yesterday he saw his son’s video in media.

The news has left Prashanth's family and friends worried, who are residing in Hyderabad. The family urged Telangana and the central government to help them get their son back.

The Pakistan media reported the incident as “one of the accused is a software techie and they have questioned the possibility of carrying out a sophisticated terror attack behind entering the country”.
