Actor and Politician Rajinikanth responded over Amit Shah's concept of making Hindi as a common language in India and expressed his disagreement over this, on Wednesday.

Rajinikanth remarked about Amit Shah's comments that only Hindi language has the capability to unite India, clearly stated that no one would accept Amit Shah's comments in South India, especially in Tamil Nadu. Hindi is not acceptable as a common language, he said.

Rajinikanth further added that bringing out a common language not just for India but any country is good for its unity and progress. Unfortunately, one cannot bring a common language in our country. Therefore, you cannot impose any language on a person as it is against their personal rights.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah's comment has stirred up controversy all over the country and especially in the southern states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said the Home Minister's announcement was an invasion on people's rights from non-Hindi areas who love their mother tongue. Amit Shah's comments have been criticized widely in the Southern states and by leaders including Stalin, Kamal Haasan, and West Bengal's Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
