Concrete Pole Kills ITI Student Hanging Out Of Irumbuliyur-Tambaram Train

Chennai: A teenage succumed to his injuries when he hit a concrete pole by the side of the EMU train track between Irumbuliyur and Tambaram on Monday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Arul Kumar, first-year student at the Guindy ITI.

According to police, he boarded the Chengalpet-Chennai Beach Fast EMU at Oorapakkam at the peak hour time of 9 am, and was hanging out from the crowded door area of the EMU.

He was later rushed to the Rajiv Gandhi Hospital with head injuries, and died after some time, police said.

A similiar accident took sometime later in the same Chengalpet-Tambaram route. While the boys were hanging outside the door of the heavily crowded doorway of the Chengalpattu-Beach Fast EMU, one had left foot cut off, while another suffered a bad hit to the head and fainted.

Dinesh, 23, hit the pole by the side of the track and was thrown out. He hails from MGR Nagar in Chengalpattu and works in a private company in Chennai. The other man Arul Pandian, 25, suffered head injuries and was rushed to the ICU at the RGGH.
