Lucknow: In a gruesome fire accident, five members of a family including a six-month-old baby girl were burnt to death in a house- fire in Lucknow on Wednesday. The deceased identified as Sumit Singh, his wife Julie , their infant daughter, sister Vandana and nephew Dablu were living in the Indira Nagar police limits. According to Lucknow police officials the house had two portions where one of the portions was being used for storing LPG stoves and other kitchen appliances. The family were living in the other portion.

A short circuit in the air conditioner seemed to be the cause of the fire that broke out in the house. The fire soon spread to the other portion of the house and when the local residents saw smoke emanating from the house in the early morning hours, they immediately called the fire services.

According to the fire officials, the family who were sleeping at that time seemed to have fallen unconscious due to inhaling the carbon monoxide fumes caused due to the fire and could not escape.

As the entrance to the house was too narrow for the fire officials to enter,they had to break the wall from the backside and enter the house.It took almost five hours to douse out the fire.

The bodies were sent for the post mortem examination a team of forensic experts have also been called to examine as to what caused the fire.
