Telangana No. 2 In Road Accident Deaths In India

Hyderabad: Accident data released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) indicates Telangana is the second state to record the highest number of road accident deaths in the country in 2018.

According to the data, deaths caused by road accidents in the country have increased to nearly 1.49 lakh last year showing a rise of 0.6 percent. While Haryana registered the highest number of deaths, Telangana followed behind.

While Uttar Pradesh registered a maximum increase in the number of deaths by over 2,000, Tamil Nadu witnessed the maximum decline in fatalities at 3,941.

Speaking in this regard, DGP and chairman of Telangana Road Safety Authority, T Krishna Prasad, in a quote to TOI said, the actual reasons behind the high number of fatalities needed to be identified and action plan should be formed in accordance.

In 2017, there was a three percent decline recorded in the road accident-related deaths in the country.
