Delhi: The Congress has roundly been criticised for its shabby treatment of former Prime Minister, PV Narasimha Rao, especially at the time of his death. In a major goof-up, the Congress party posted a tweet celebrating his birth anniversary on the day he passed away. The party's tweet read: P.V. Narasimha Rao, the 9th PM of India, dismantled the License Raj and oversaw the biggest economic reform the country has seen till date. His contributions to the nation shall always be remembered as we honour him today on his birth anniversary." When Twitterati pointed out its embarrassing error to Congress, the party deleted the tweet. Here's a screenshot though...

Congress Tweet on P V Narasimha Rao’s Death Anniversary

It may be recalled that P.V. Narasimha Rao passed away on December 23,2004 after a heart attack. PV's family members wanted his last rites to be performed in New Delhi, but the UPA government of the day, headed by the Congress ensured that his body was shifted to Hyderabad. In fact, media reports had it that his body was not allowed into AICC headquarters. It is widely alleged that the then UPA chairperson, Sonia Gandhi was behind the shabby treatment meted out to PV on his death.
