Naming Shamshabad airport after NTR criticised
The proposed move to rename the domestic terminal in Shamshabad airport after TDP founder and thespian NT Rama Rao drew flak from Telangana assembly.
The issue was raised by Congress MLAs, led by former minister T Jeevan Reddy during the question hour. He demanded immediate withdrawal of the name and said the domination by the Andhraites would no longer be tolerated.On Thursday , Union Civil Aviation Minister and TDP MP Ashok Gajapatiraju sent orders to GMR, Hyderbad to rename domestic terminal after former TDP supremo with immediate affect.
There was commotion in the house on the issue. Intervening, chief minister KCR too said that the renaming was not right. The authorities could have named the terminal after any other leader from Telangana. He expressed the hope that the government would rescind the order.
"Formation of separate state was a reaction to the dominance of Seemandhra people. We would never accept this dominance even after we have our own state" said the telangana leaders.
