Nalgonda Doctor Stabbed To Death By Patient In USA 

Hyderabad: Dr. Achutha Reddy, a psychiatrist hailing from Nalgonda was stabbed to death in his holistic clinic in East Wichita, Kansas, USA, late on Wednesday night. A man, identified as Umar Rashid Dutt, has reportedly been arrested in connection with the murder.

The assailant Umar Rashid Dutt(21) was nabbed at the Wichita Country Club some time later, still wearing his blood stained clothes. Dutt’s mother is said to hail from Hyderabad while his father is a native of Bengaluru.

It is said that Dutt had gone to Dr Reddy’s office for his regular counselling at around 7:30pm on Wednesday. An argument erupted midway through the session. Even as the staff rushed to help, Dr Reddy managed to escape from the spot. Dutt apparently chased the doctor down an alley, and stabbed the doctor multiple times.

The doctor was found dead outside the clinic in a back parking lot, according to Lieutenant Drew Seiler of the Wichita Police Department.

Dutt then went to the Wichita Country Club where he was caught. He has been charged with first-degree murder. The motive has not been established and the police is looking through the doctor’s records.

According to information reaching here, the 57-year-old doctor Achutha Reddy hailed from Nalgonda and is an alumni of the Osmania Medical College, from where he graduated in 1986. He was practising in Wichita since 1989, and was running the Holistic Psychiatric Services in Wichita, apart from being affiliated to various hospitals in the region.

A fitness freak specializing in absolute yoga, often posting videos on the subject on YouTube, Dr. Reddy had completed his residency in psychiatry from the University of Kansas Medical School in Wichita.

Condolence messages from various quarters said Dr. Reddy was compassionate, caring and a ‘wonderful soul’.
