Music director Shashi Preetam attacked by neighbour

Hyderabad: Shashi Preetam, 45, of Gulabi fame, was on Friday attacked by his neighbour in Madhapur, in connection with a document project that he had agreed to make in 2012.

Police reveal that Shashi Preetam had an argument with his neighbour Bhanu Prasad, 50, in Kavuri Hills of Madhapur over finances related to a documentary that they had planned for in 2012. Prasad had reportedly invested Rs. 1.5 lakh towards the project but later withdrew from the project due to ill-health. Prasad gave Preetam the complete rights to the project for a compensation of Rs. 1.5 lakh.

Preetam had not yet paid the amount the Prasad. An argument broke out on Friday on this issue after which Prasad reportedly hit Preetam on his face, resulting in bleeding injuries.

A case for wrongful restraint (341 IPC), voluntarily causing hurt (323 IPC) and criminal intimidation (506 IPC) was registered against Prasad. Preetam was sent for medical examination. Prasad was reportedly taken into custody for questioning.
