The vehicular traffic on the busy Warangal-Hyderabad National Highway came to a standstill after Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti workers blocked the roads near Bhongir on Tuesday.

The MRPS workers were demanding the immediate release of their leader Manda Krishna Madiga, who was arrested on December 18. They demanded that the Government immediately set Manda Krishna Madiga free. Due to the stir, the vehicles remained stranded for several hours on the busy highway. The police had to intervene and remove the Madiga activists from the road.

Manda Krishna Madiga and many of his supporters were arrested late on the night of December 18, when they tried to take a rally to the Tank Bund, without prior permission. The rally was planned to be taken out in memory of MRPS vice-president Bharathi, who died due to cardiac arrest during an MRPS protest.
