Kaala Movie Plot

A simple story out across in a powerful way, that's Kaala for you. Tamilians living in Dharavi are going about their business when a mafia don (also a politician) attempts to snatch away their rights of the land. People are not the one to take it lying down. What happens next? Are they successful in protecting their lands forms the crux of Kaala.

Kaala Movie Review

One striking feature of this film is the dominance of the color 'Black' (as the title Kaala suggests). Rajini's introduction scene is sans any bang, unlike Basha where he has a grand entry. However, Rajini makes his mark in the very first scene itself. The chemistry between Huma and Rajini is nice. Rajini steals the show as the king of Dharavi and his character is estabished well. The highlight is the interval bang. The scenes between Kaala (Rajini) and Hari Dada (Nana Patekar) are brilliant. VFX and stunt sequences deserve a special mention. Rajini mouths a few dialogues in Hindi and Marathi. For the uninitiated Rajini is a Marathi and was born  in Bengaluru. His debut was in Kannada before which he was a bus conductor. His name was Sivaji Rao Gaekwad which later changed to Rajinikanth for screen. So it's refreshing to watch the actor speak his mother tongue. The theme song is a hit and lingers long after you leave theatre. Cinematographer Murali has done a great job so has Sreekar Prasad, the editor.
