This road mishap is typically filmy. A raging lorry ramming into a stationary lorry caused a road rage involving a series of mishaps and a pileup on the road. The incident, which looked every inch like a Hollywood racing drama, left two dead and 17 injured.
The incident occurred at Pedakakani near Guntur in the wee hours of Sunday. At about 3.30 AM, a lorry with cement load rammed into a stationary lorry and the driver got struck in his cabin for several hours. By the time he was extricated with help of a crane and rushed to the hospital, he died.
During the collision, the spare tyre of the cement-loaded lorry came unstuck and fell on the road. An unsuspecting car speeding up on the same road ran over the spare tyre and rolled over across the road divider. At the same time, the driver of a lorry carrying over 100 pilgrims from Bhadrachalam saw the car making areal somersaults and applied sudden brake. As a result, another lorry, which was close behind, rammed into it. Due to this 16 of the pilgrims were grievously injured. Two persons in the car that overturned suffered critical injuries and one of them died while being rushed to the hospital.
The police had a tough time clearing the five vehicles that blocked the all-important National Highway and rushing the injured to the hospital. A case has been registered in connection with the pile-up.
