Mother, daughter attacked with knife

A woman and her daughter were allegedly attacked with sharp weapons by an unidentified person in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, leaving them severely injured, police said today.

The incident took place last night at Attrapuram when both N Padamavathi (45) and his daughter Bhavani (25) were asleep in their house, they said.

The victims suffered injuries on their neck, police said.  Hearing their cries for help after the incident, locals rushed to the spot and admitted the duo to Rajahmundry Government General hospital, from where they were shifted to Kakinada Government General hospital, they said. 

The condition of Bhavani is said to be 'critical', according to hospital sources.  The Attrapuram police have launched searches to nab the culprit, who fled soon after the incident.  We are yet to establish the reason for the attack on the duo, police said.
