Modi Kites Fly High In Old City Sky 

Hyderabad: It's not uncommon for people to fly kites bearing photos of their favorite actor or political leader during Sankranthi every year. This time around, it is Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is the most popular face on the kites, but the place where it's happening is quite uncommon.

In Hyderabad's Old City, kites with Modi's pictures are flying high everywhere for the last couple of days. Tourists visiting Charminar and other places of interest in the Old City were watching Modi kites with curiosity. This even drew attention in the political circles as the region is a AIMIM stronghold.

So, what brought about this change? Well, this did not happen on its own. The BJP leaders distributed Modi kites to enthusiasts free of cost. The party official spokesman Mir Firasath Ali said, "Hindus and Muslims celebrate each other's festivals not only in Hyderabad but also throughout the country. Through kite flying on every Sankranthi, people of both the faiths come together."

Firasath and BJP Telangana Minorities Morcha vice president Kavi Abbasi distributed 300 kites with Modi's picture printed on them in saffron background. "We want to convey to the people of Old City that BJP has taken the welfare of Muslims seriously," Ali said.
