MLC Polls: Congress could give tough fight only in Nalgonda

With the last date for filing of nominations for the local body elections in Telangana over, it is now clear that there could be fight only for the Nalgonda Local Body Constituency.

While the ruling TRS is contesting all the 12 seats for which elections are being held, the Congress is fighting only from five seats. In Adilabad, Karimnagar and Warangal, it could not find suitable candidates. TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy said they did not contest from these districts as there were no proposals from the respective DCC chief.
The Congress has given tickets to Chandrasekhar in Rangareddy, Damodar Reddy in Mahaboobnagar, Venkataramana Reddy in Nizamabad,Shivraj Patil in Medak and Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy in Nalgonda.
The TDP too failed to put up many candidates, while the BJP's condition is worse.
The ruling TRS is trying to ensure unanimous victories for its candidates in Adilabad, Karimnagar and Warangal and is confident of other seats. The Congress sources admit that there could be tough fight only for Nalgonda, where the Congress has considerable number of votes.
