Vijayawada: The Telugu Desam government in Andhra Pradesh appears to have been blinded by hypocrisy! Their actions betrayed their intentions once more on Saturday as they sent police teams to virtually restrain and cordon off YSRCP’s MLA RK Roja, who upon receiving an invite to the National Women’s Parliament landed in Vijayawada this morning.

As soon as Roja arrived in Gannavaram airport police surrounded her and told her that she was to stay put as the Dalai Lama was to arrive there shortly. She was then taken to a room where she was kept under police surveillance and not allowed to leave.

After about an hour’s wait Roja was taken to Vijayawada accompanied in the vehicle by a woman police officer. However the vehicle was moving around aimlessly in the city without any destination.

Roja was later taken into custody by the police.

The shameful treatment of a woman parliamentarian who had come to attend the meet on an invite, while endless sermons about women’s rights and empowerment are being made could only be a true definition of hypocrisy.

The high handedness of the ruling TDP government to behave in this manner in this day and age, in the presence of national and international audience is a snub on the very values they claim to promote.

Meanwhile YSRCP official spokesperson Parthasarathi has slammed this action of the government in getting MLA Roja arrested as undemocratic. They are to take up this matter with the DGP.
