Minor Girl Rescued From Child Marriage Excels In Sports

Hyderabad: A minor girl, who was rescued by the police from a child marriage, is winning accolades in sports by representing Telangana state in Inter-School Under-19 cricket. She has added yet another feather to her cap by excelling in Rugby and will be taking part in Under-19 Rugby Championship, to be held in the city soon.

The girl, Bodupally Anusha, was rescued by Rachakonda police and Balala Hakkula Sangam, when her parents were performing her marriage last year. Since then she has been studying in welfare hostel. She participated cricket tournament held as part of 63rd National School Games held in Indore, Madhya Pradesh last December.

Congratulating her exceptional performance in sports, Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat lauded her and assured assistance from the department in completing her education. A cheque of Rs 10,000 was gifted to her.
