Massive Landslide On Chandigarh-Shimla Highway
A massive landslide hit the Chandigarh-Shimla national Highway on Saturday. At least six to seven vehicles ere reportedly buried under the debris. The police have managed to rescue some three persons.
The incident occurred near the Dhalli Tunnel on the highway on Saturday afternoon. Rains in the preceding days were responsible for the landslide. People were alerted when some boulders and rocks rolled down approximately fifteen minutes before the landslide. The authorities had closed down the road for vehicular traffic and removed most of the vehicles from the spot. But, some parked vehicles at the site appear to have been danaed.
The traffic has been diverted via Sanjauli and the restoration and rescue operations have begun. Further details are awaited.
