Hyderabad: In yet another incident of police atrocities on citizens, a 30-year-old man committed suicide after recording a selfie video narrating the torture meted out to him by the SI of Thalakondapally in Nagarkurnool district on Monday.

Pathlavat Raju of Narayanpur thanda consumed pesticide after recording the video on his mobile narrating the torture meted out by SI Saidababu. Raju said he was beaten up black and blue by the SI after his wife complained of domestic violence. His wife Anjali went to her parents' place after a quarrel with him on Sunday. The elders called him to their place and wife's relatives thrashed him.

Again on Monday, the SI called to the police station and tortured him severely. "Police people are believing whatever women say against men and torturing them without any inquiry. What kind of justice is this? The police were saying chief minister issued them orders to kill any man who against whom a case is filed. I am really worried they may kill me anytime. They tortured me in cruelest ways and my body is completely damaged. I am committing suicide with a hope that at least my death should open the eyes of the police department and also the society at large," the man said in the video.

A departmental inquiry is yet to be ordered into the incident. Meanwhile, Raju's family demanded a stringent action against the police personnel who tortured him due to which he died. They alleged that Raju died of police torture and it was not suicide.
