Man Stabbed In Anantapur, Estranged Wife And His Brothers Suspected

Anantapur: A 35-year-old man was stabbed in his neck on Thursday while he was returning from a court hearing in the town.

According to the police, the victim Venkataram Prasad, a native of Kovurunagar got married to Kalyani six years ago. He is working as an LIC development officer in Dharmavaram. One month after marriage, the couple had differences and got separated from each other. Later, they approached a court for divorce by mutual consent.

On Thursday, after the court hearing, Prasad was returning to his home at Kovurunagar. When he reached near the minister Kaluva Srinivasulu house, a three-member gang stabbed him on his neck. The accused then ran away after they heard the police siren. The police, who reached the spot shifted Prasad to a hospital where the doctors referred him to a hospital in Bengaluru.

Ramprasad has properties worth Rs6 crore in Dharmavaram and Hyderabad. He transferred the properties to his brothers to avoid any claim by his wife. He also had disputes with his brothers over the property.

The police suspected that the three-member gang was sent by either his wife or brothers to grab his properties.
