Man Pushes Lover Into Godavari From Yanam Bridge

Kakinada: In a shocking incident, a 26-year-old woman had been pushed into the river Godavari by her boyfriend for insisting that he marry her.

The shocking incident occurred at Yanam in Puducherry near East Godavari district on early hours of Monday.

According to the police, victim has been identified as Gandi Aliveni, an assistant engineer in Gas Authority of Indian Limited (GAIL) in Rajahmundry.

Accused was identified as Srinivas Rao, textile showroom worker in Rajahmundry town. Both were in love for the past five years. For the past a few months. Aliveni had been insisting that he marry her.

After committing the crime, Srinivas Rao tried to escape from the scene with her handbag and cellphone. Noticing this, the local fishermen caught Srinivas Rao and also rescued Aliveni from the river. She has since been shifted to a hospital.
