Man Loses Sight In Botched Hair Transplant in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: In a case of gross negligence and putting a patients' life under threat, a city doctor has been the cause for the person lose his eye-sight. The utter negligence by Dr Mohammed Ishratullah Khan has invited wrath from Telangana Medical Council and his license has been suspended for two years. The patient Tariq Khusroo underwent a botch hair transplant surgery by Dr Khan in 2016, which resulted in the loss of his vision.

The Telangana Medical Council which took up the matter in January 2018 and has found Dr Khan to have violated the rules by performing hair surgeries without having proper qualifications. The State medical council chairman Dr E Ravindra Reddy said that after Tariq Khusroo underwent surgery he developed life threatening complications within 12 hours.

Dr Khan told a leading daily that he has filed an appeal with the Medical Council of India (MCI) and is confident of obtaining a stay over his license suspension for two years. Dr Khan runs a clinic at Banjara Hills Road No.1 and his website reads - Dr Khan’s Hair Transplant Centre - has enlisted degrees of MBBS, FRCS, ISHRS (USA), member of Asian Association of Hair Restoration Surgeons, but in truth is just a MBBS degree holder from Osmania University. Dr Khan has been charging for hair tranlplant treament anywhere between Rs 45,000 up to Rs 2 lakhs.
