Doddaballapur: In a gory incident, a man hacked his 28-year-old wife to death, chopped her into pieces, burnt the head and buried the body parts. The incident occurred at Doddaballapur, a town in Bangalore Rural district of Karnataka on Wednesday.

According to the police, victim has been identified as Lakshmi, daughter of Muniraju. Lakshmi was married to 35-year-old Rajesh of Bommanahalli in 2011. The couple have a daughter. For two years, the couple began fighting as differences propped up between them. Lakshmi, along with her daughter, had been living with her parents as she had decided to part ways with her husband. A case of domestic violence had been registered against Rajesh.

Following the divorce, the local courted directed Rajesh to pay Rs 1500 every month to his wife Lakshmi. Rajesh, who initially gave her money, later he stopped sending her the money and married another woman.

Last year, Rajesh got separated with his second wife. He began calling Lakshmi's parents asking them to send Lakshmi back to his house. Following an agreement, Lakshmi along with her daughter came to Rajesh's house.

On February 9, Rajesh killed his wife and chopped her body into pieces. He then burnt her head near Gundasandra village. He later buried the body parts near a lake. On that night, he lodged a complaint with the police saying that his wife had gone missing. During the investigation, the police learnt that Rajesh had killed his wife and feigned ignorance. A case of murder has been registered against him, Rajesh was sent to remand.
