Man Gives Talaq To Wife For Attending Narendra Modi Rally

A Muslim woman, who liked Prime Minister Narendra Modi's stand on ending triple talaq, received one from her husband. The reason? She attended a Narendra Modi rally!!

According to sources, Fayra, a Muslim woman, from Bareilly in UP attended a rally organised to support Narendra Modi's plan to bring a legislation to ban triple talaq and her husband promptly divorced her. She alleged domestic violence and said she and her child were thrown out by her husband. The woman alleged that her husband had a affair with his aunt and had had always threatened to divorce her. She said when she attended a Modi rally, he flew into rage and divorced her.

Danish, Fayra's husband, has however denied the allegations and said she had a paramour. He said he did not give her triple talaq for attending Modi rally. "I fave talaq as she has an extra-marital affair," he argued. He said he was unhappy with his wife as she wears jeans and other 'western' clothes.

The Modi government has proposed a punishment of three years for those pronouncing triple talaq. The centre’s draft law has been in the pipeline ever since the Supreme Court declared instant talaq or Talak-e-Bidat unconstitutional.
