Maha Dharna success unnerves TDP

The YSRCP cadre is upbeat over the grand success of the Maha dharna against the TDP government. The success of the protest despite a slew of restrictions has proved YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's analysis that the TDP would become unpopular within six months.  YSR Congress has said the anti-incumbency factor has set in just six months after Chandrababu Naidu took over. “Despite a volley of restrictions to prevent people from attending the dharna, farmers, women, youth and other sections have voluntarily participated in large numbers as they lost faith in Chandrababu Naidu’s words ,’ party spokesperson Vasireddy Padma said. The surge of angry protestors just 24 hours after Chief Minister announced a policy statement on loan waiver only shows that Chandrababu Naidu's plan to take wind from the sails of the Maha Dharna has boomeranged.  The State Government on its part has tried to block the highways, barricade the main streets and restrict the movements of some important leaders to foil the dharna but the huge response has bulldozed the efforts of the Government to misuse the official machinery.  "In the coming days we will intensify the stir as announced by our leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who is getting good support as he is voicing the concern of the people," Vasireddy Padma said. The TDP appears to be jittery over the response to the Maha Dharna. The party is afraid that Jagan's proposed visit after Sankranthi to the kin of the farmers who had ended their lives due to mounting debt burden after Chandrababu took over and his plan to sit on a hunger strike next month could further fan the fires of anti-incumbency.
