Maha Dharna: Barricades, arrests, restrictions galore .....

Afraid that the YSRCP dharna could cause snowballing of discontent and disenchantment agains the ruling TDP, which has so far failed in waiving farm loans and is resorting to verbal jugglery  to browbeat the farmers, the TDP dispensation has gone whole hog in preventing the dharnas at various district collectorates. Police were deployed in large numbers and vehicles ferrying YSRCP activists were stopped at various places.      * YSRCP activists heading for Vizag collectorate to join YS Jagan stopped near S Rayavaram in Vizag. Angry party workers stage a sit-in on the national highway.   * 50 vehicles of YSRCP workers seized by the police near Guntur. MLA Shivakumar, also on his way to Guntur collectorate from Tenali,  also arrested.   * Over 3000 cops deployed in Srikakula. Party workers from Etcherla, Rajam, Vangara and other places prevented people from joining the Maha Dharna. All private vehicles being prevented from going towards the Srikakulam district collectorate.   * Police arrest YSRCP workers and leaders going to attend dharna in Guntur arrested at Cherukumilli.   * Police completely blocade area around district collectorate in Kakinada. Over 200 mufti police deployed.    * RTC, which leased buses for Chandrababu's swearing-in, refuses to allocate buses for YSRCP workers in West Godavari's Narsapur. Police arrest protesting YSRCP activists, including former minister Kothapalli Subbarayudu. YSRCP workers stage protest.    * Police make allout efforts to fail the YSRCP Mahadharna on Friday. In Chittoor, the police go whole hog and arrest several party workers on their way to attend the dharna. MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy leads the dharna in Chittoor.
