LIVE: YS Jagan’s speech at Vijayawada

YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday launched a blistering attack on the dubious policies of the Chandrababu government and his attempts to dispossess the farmers of their lands to build a capital city. Here are the highlights of YS Jagan’s speech:

If a state gets special state status, the Central support component will be up to 90 per cent and investors and entrepreneurs will get tax incentives. This will lead to economic activity and employment. But, Chandrababu, who promised to get special state status for not five but 10 years, is now going back on the issue of special state status. He is now talking of special package not special state status.

Even the special package that he is asking for is nothing but whatever is written in the Bifurcation Act. The state in effect is not getting anything extra.

Why is Chandrababu Naidu not asking for a special state status or even a special package? He is keeping mum on the issue as he wants to wriggle out of the cash for votes scam, where he is involved in buying out MLAs of rival party to win the elections. To save himself, he is prostrating before PM Narendra Modi.

The Green Tribunal has stayed land acquisition, but Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu still issued notification for taking over land. To prevent the farmers from approaching the court, the notification did not name the farmers.
The Government is also claiming that there are no lands where multi-crops are sown. It claims that there are barely 2000 acres of three-crop land. The TDP government says it will take away the lands from the farmers willy nilly.
Chandrababu wants to take away the lands before the ordinance on land acquisition expires. The capital is being built for the corporate.
The chief minister should be a person with mercy, compassion and conscience. But, we have a land grabber as CM.
This Government is not going to remain in power for long. This government will soon be bundled out and thrown into the Bay of Bengal. When we come back to power, we shall ensure that the farmers will get their lands back.
Chandrababu rule is a story of broken promises. He promised to waive off gold loans, DWCRA loans and crop loans. During elections, he promised jobs for every youth and said he would give unemployed allowance if the government failed to provide jobs. But all these promises were broken once he came to power,. He has betrayed the farmers. He is forcing the farmers to commit suicides. Same is the case with the DWCRA women. Today, the DWCRA women are unable to approach the banks for fresh loans.
