Two municipal corporations in Chittoor district will be ruled by women soon. The mayor posts in both Tirupati and Chittoor are now reserved for women.

The top post in Tirupati municipal corporation is reserved for general woman and that of Chittoor for BC woman.

Whatever be the political parties these women belongs to, these corporations are ruled by women only ultimately. As there are reservations in wards and divisions too, the role of women in the municipal administration is going to increase this time.

Government of Andhra Pradesh has announced the reservations for the coming municipal elections in the state.

It is expected that several new faces will appear in these elections this time.

As per the reports, some prominent doctors may contest for the post of Mayor of Tirupati this time. They may try their luck by contesting from Congress, YSR Congress Party or Telugu Desam Party. In Tirupati, two to three lady doctors, belonging to general category, have been actively taking part in social service activities for the last two years. They are familiar to media people too. Any political party may choose any one of them for the post of mayor.

In Chittoor, only men became the municipal chairmen of the municipal councils so far. As all the key leaders in the city are from general category, the position is such that any of the BC leader has to field his wife this time. The local analysts are saying that a leader of local BC welfare committee is trying to field his wife for the post of mayor.
