Hyderabad: A businessman from Kushaiguda in the city who was kidnapped by unidentified persons last week was killed after his family could not pay the ransom demanded for his release on Thursday.

The deceased, Vasudevraj, a resident of Mahesh Nagar under Kushaiguda police limits was picked up by some unidentified persons saying they want to settle a business deal with him from his home. They later sent pictures in which the victim was removed of his shirt and was being beaten up. They sent messages on WhatsApp to the victim's family demanding a ransom of Rs3 crore for his release. The family requested the kidnappers to leave him as they cannot pay any amount.

The deceased was running a store by name RK Enterprises and he was also in financial problems. He was also suffering from serious health problems. The kidnappers taking him to Singapore and demanding Rs3 crore ransom appears to be a big mystery or stupidity of the assailants, say the locals.

The Indian embassy officials are making efforts to get Vasudev's body back by Saturday.
