KTR Is Telangana’s Virat Kohli: Former Cricketer Shares Lighter Moments With Minister

“Like Virat Kohli for Indian team, KT Rama Rao is Telangana’s Kohli,” former Indian cricketer praised the Minister.

Warangal: Former Indian cricket captain Krishnamachari Srikkanth has termed Telangana IT Minister KT Rama Rao as Telangana's Kohli. Krishnamachari Srikkanth and KTR shared some lighter moments during a function organised to sign MoUs between private companies and Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge (TASK) at National Institute of Technology here on Saturday.

"Like Virat Kohli for Indian team, KT Rama Rao is Telangana's Kohli," he praised the Minister.

KTR too recalled his formative years when he was a big fan of cricketer Srikkanth for batting skills. The Minister recalled a One-Day International match that was played between India and Pakistan Lal Bahadur Shastri stadium in Hyderabad in 1987 in which Krishnamachari Srikkanth opened the innings for the homeside. KTR recalled how Srikkanth was injured when the ball struck him on his eye.

"I can recall how Srikkanth was injured in Wasim Akram's bowling. He got sutures in the dressing room. The next moment, he came again to the crease to bat with the injury," the Minister recalled. And Srikkanth had scored well in the match, KTR said.

Expressing serious concern over youths committing suicides, KTR said that youngsters should be psychologically strong to face situation in life.

Srikkanth too lauded the efforts of KTR in developing the state. The cricketer said that Telangana one of the fast developing states in the country.
