Hyderabad: Telangana IT and Municipal Administration Minister K Taraka Rama Rao inaugurated a 1.10 km-long Expressway, which is a part of the Nehru Outer Ring Road (ORR) in Kandlakoya here. The stretch, which makes the entire 158 kilometers of Outer Ring Road operational, was laid out with a budget of Rs 125 crores.

In 2005, late CM of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, late Dr YS Rajashekhara Reddy initiated the construction of ORR with a total budget of Rs. 6696 crores allotted to Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA). Under his reign, around 78 kilometers of the stretch became operational, after which the progress of the project slowed down due to Telangana bifurcation agitations. After the TRS government came to power in 2014, the project work gained momentum.
