KSR Column: TDP Statements On Efficient Administration Contradict It’s Actions

Cases were filed against farmers and farm lands were set on fire when objections were raised to the process of land pooling for the capital city of Amaravati.

In a recent meeting with party leaders, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N Chandrababu Naidu said that he is placing back-on-track a system that was destroyed by previous governments.

The general impression from the chief minister's statement is that he is reviving a system and running an administration that is impartial, transparent and away from any bias towards caste or creed. It is not certain if the earlier governments destroyed the administration but what is clear is that Chandrababu's regime has certainly ruined the way a state is governed.

For instance there is no case filed despite 29 pilgrims losing their lives in the Godavari pushkaralu. Also, how does the state government justify the killing of red sander workers in Chittoor district? Similarly, where is transparency in administration when authorities do not consider the questions raised by farmers during land pooling for the new capital city?

On the contrary cases were filed against those very farmers. Further, fields were burnt as some farmers refused to part with their lands for the capital city. Was any action taken against those culprits who destroyed the fields? Does it show transparency in administration in the state?

Let us consider the "impartial" administration aspect from Chandrababu's statements. The state police acts as defence force of the Telugu Desam Party. No cases are filed when TDP leaders go on rampage or listed in land and money scams. Arrests are made and protestors are imprisoned only when they belong to the opposition YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). How can the TDP claim "efficient and people friendly" administration when the Janmbabhoomi committees act as if each district is their personal fiefdoms and extort money from public schemes.

A district collectors' conference should have public welfare schemes and public grievances in their agenda. However, the chief minister directs the collectors to work for the implementation of his pet programme - Janmabhoomi. Is the administration on the right track as stated by Chandrababu Naidu when crores of public money is spent in the TDP campaign for the Nandyal by-polls.

The TDP and it's chief have a lot of answering to do when a government servant such as MRO Vanajakshi is abused by MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar. When an inquiry committee stated that the MRO was not at fault, why does the chief minister fail to take any action on the MLA. Why no cases are filed? Is the administration impartial?

Taking up Polavaram project works despite Central governments assurance that it will complete the project, ensuring project costs are jacked up to favour contractors and division of the state without amendments to AP Reorganisation Act definitely show the government that has destroyed the system for its personal gains.

Chief minister Chandrababu Naidu has two more years to complete his term. He still has time to correct his mistakes and improve the administration or choose to remain as the most corrupt CM in history. But is he state of mind to listen to good advice?
