Kiran to launch ‘Amma Hastham’ on Ugadi day

The state government’s prestigious scheme “Amma Hastham” will come into force from Thursday on the eve of Telugu new year day Ugadi. As part of the scheme, nine essential commodities will be given as one bunch on subsidized price of Rs 185 to white ration card holders across the state.

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy will launch the programme on Thursday. Briefing the reporters on the scheme, Minister for civil supplies Sridhar Babu said “Amma Hastham” was aimed at ensuring food security to the people living below the poverty line. The scheme has been envisaged to protect the poor from the burden of price rise, Sridharbabu said.  The commodities include rice, dal, salt, tamarind, cooking oil, wheat, turmeric, chilli powder and sugar.
