Yanam: For the past few days reports were rife that Puducherry Lt Governor Kiran Bedi would be the new Andhra Pradesh Governor. However, the LG while addressing media on Thursday quashed the news and said disarmingly that she will continue to be the LG of Puducherry putting rumours to rest.

“The programmes I have taken up here are yielding results and becoming successful, so I will continue to serve here till I complete my term and moving to other states is nowhere near,” Bedi added.

Meanwhile, the Congress party which claimed that Bedi will be take over as AP Governor appeared disappointed after the direct rebuttal from the horse’s mouth.

It may be recalled that in the past, Bedi had a faceoff with the V Narayanasamy-led Congress government in the Union Territory, wherein the latter accused Bedi of interfering “too much” in the government matters. To this, Bedi said she is "not a rubber stamp" and that she is performing her duties as an administrator.

Bedi alleged that the Puducherry government wanted her to be an "endorser" of their files and a "rubber stamp," but, she said, she would not be so. She said people of the Union Territory have a "right to seek justice" and therefore were approaching her and she was holding regular grievance redressal meetings for them.
