Thiruvananthapuram: In what appears to be a major embarrassment to the saffron party, a Kerala BJP leader landed in a controversy after he allegedly accepted Rs 5.60 crore from a businessman for getting Medical Council of India’s (MCI) approval for a medical college.

However, the BJP rubbished the report over the incident. Meanwhile, the opposition parties demanded a CBI probe into the incident questioning the Modi’s corruption-free government.

According to a few local media reports in the state, BJP cooperative cell convener RS Vinod reportedly admitted to the BJP probe panel that he accepted money for granting medical college status to the SR Hospital in Varkala.

The probe panel of the MCI also found that several party leaders of the BJP had also accepted money from college management of another medical college hospital in Palakkad district.
