According to the sources in the know, KCR is very firm on taking action in such a way that in future also it should terrorize every one to even talk to the underworld criminals. Some top police officials said they have clear directions from the Chief Minister giving a free hand to the investigating team to arrest anyone on proven proofs.

A senior police official said that the investigation, as everyone expected, not going by the contents of diary. But, SIT is probing from the opposite direction as it started grilling persons arrested in 72 cases in order to establish the trail to the names in the diary. Gangster Mohammad Nayeemuddin was killed in an encounter at Shadnagar on August 8.

The Cyberabad police searched Nayeem’s den at Alkapuri Colony, Narsingi, and seized firearms, cash, vehicles and thousands of documents, carted away in 20 suitcases. SIT happened to notice the diary in one of the suitcases, which reportedly has details of Nayeem’s friends and benefactors, including the ones in the police establishment.

Nayeem had habit of taking photos with whom all he met, brokered, extorted and dealt with. Police interrogated Nayeem’s associates arrested in Nalgonda and Cyberabad. From this interrogation, police came to know that the gangster had given plots from SLN Colony and Teacher’s Colony near Bhongir to some cops.

“Of the 150 acres of land in two colonies, Nayeem took possession of 75 acres by signing a deal with the original land owner after people purchased plots from a GPA holder,” a police officer of Bhongir said. Nayeem had registered several plots on the name of his benamis.

The list of police officials is also making rounds in the media. Nayeem also gifted land to a retired additional SP, an additional SP working in the CID, an ACP working with the Hyderabad police commissionerate and an ACP working at the state police headquarters. An inspector working in Andhra Pradesh, two inspectors of Mahbubnagar district, several sub-inspectors and constables were also listed as beneficiaries by the gangster’s associates.

The interesting habit of Nayeem to record everything in the diary and taking photos with everyone he met is helping SIT know all the corners of his crime world. especially about people who received special benefits from the gangster.

“The entries are in Telugu, but not in the handwriting of Nayeem. He might have made one of the women in the den make the entries,” a police official said. The diary recorded cash receipts through extortion, some as huge as Rs 20 crore, and benefits doled out to politicians as well as police personnel. However, the names cops and politicians are mostly in codes, sometimes mentioning their ranks, said a senior police official.
