KCR stirs up controversy over Tank Bund statues

Telangana chief minister KCR stirred up a controversy when he said that some of the statues on Tank Bund were useless.

Speaking at a meeting organised to mark the birth anniversary of renowned Telugu poet Dasarathi Krishnamacharya, KCR said there were some useless statues on the Tank Bund. "Who knows Bellary Raghava? We don't know who was he?" remarked KCR while referring to legendary theatre personality Bellary Raghava.

KCR assured that Dasarathi's statue would be installed on the Tank Bund.

Showering praises on Dasarathi, he said an institution would be named after the poet-laureate and his son would be given a government job.

It may be recalled that the pro-Telangana activists have damaged the statues of great Telugu icons during the peak of Telangana agitation. The T activists have been arguing that several Telangana icons were ignored.
