Kavuri Sambasiva Rao quits MP post

Adding to the woes of the beleaguered Congress government in Andhra Pradesh, its senior MP Kavuri Sambasiva Rao submitted his resignation on Saturday.

Ahead of the big reshuffle that is scheduled on Sunday, senior Congress MPs put in their papers today.

Sources say that Kavuri was disappointed as he was not included in the expansion of the Union Cabinet. Kavuri's seniority was not duly acknowledged by the High Command. The big buzz in the political circles is that the senior Congress leader is all set to bid adieu to his party that has given him a royal ignore.

It is being said that Kavuri got more angry and miffed with the Congress after hearing media reports on the possible inclusion of Chiranjeevi, Kotla Surya Prakasa Reddy, Killi Krupa Rani and Balaram Naik and that they received a call from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to be told that their berths being confirmed in the Union Council of Ministers.

While Kavuri sent his resignation letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, another senior MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao is also ready to quit. It is said that Rayapati, who was already unhappy about not being chosen for the TTD chairman post, is now angry  about his exclusion from the Union Cabinet as well.

If this turns out to be true, then what would be interesting is to see which party the senior leader will join. Considering his popularity, this will definitely be another big blow to the Congress.
