Prime Minister Manmohan Singh tried to persuade Congress MP Kavuri Sambasiva Rao to withdraw his resignation relent, but Kavuri continued to be adamant.

The five-time MP from Eluru, on Wednesday met the Prime Minister in New Delhi. When the PM tried to pacify Kavuri with good responsibilities in the future, he is reported to have said that '' he was not interested in taking any post now".

Talking to media after meeting the PM for nearly 20 minutes, Kavuri said there was still no change in his decision to quit party posts. However, he was refused to reveal what was discussed in the meeting.

Sources said that the PM offered Kavuri a post in the party organisation. Kavuri, however reportedly told the Prime Minister that "he has decided to stick to his resignation from Lok Sabha". He made his intention clear with the Congress top boss that he is not ready to reconsider his resignation.

Kavuri had sent his resignation letter quitting the Lok Sabha seat to express resentment for being ignored in recent the reshuffle of the Union Cabinet. He had sent his resignation letter to Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar and Manmohan Singh immediately after the expansion of Cabinet.

Earlier, Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, Congress president Sonia Gandhi's political secretary Ahmed Patel and PCC Chief Botsa Satyanarayana tried to pacify Kavuri, but he did not pay heed to their appeals.
