Kavuri gets Union berth, forgets Samaikyandhra?

Till he became a union minister, he had strictly opposed bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, but looks like he has had a change of mind.

Newly inducted Union Minister for textiles, Kavuri Sambasiva Rao on Friday lectured about the importance of making compromises in life. He said that life is full of compromises—one is bound to make a compromise at one stage of the other. He was making a veiled reference to the division of the state.

Kavuri made it clear that he would abide the High Command's decision on the Telangana issue. Replying to questions, he asked it wasn't right for a union minister to take part in any kind of movements as sarpanchs did.

In a shocker, Kavuri also said he would skip the Samaikyandhra meeting today. Seemandhra people have always believed that Kavuri stood for a united state. However, his ambiguous stand after his return from Delhi has pressed the panic button among Samaikyandhra supporters. One wonders if Kavuri has got signs from the Centre about a separate state?

With Kavuri backing off from Samaikyandhra stand, it is a big set back for those who trusted him.

Soon after Kavuri made these statements, several leaders have expressed their anger on him. First to react was Samaikyandhra JAC. The SJAC has expressed its disapproval to Kavuri's changed stand. The SJAC has warned Kavuri that they would not allow him to enter Andhra. They asked him if he remembered the word compromise only after getting ministry post.

Now, it remains to be seen if Kavuri did get a clue on Telangana from Centre or if he has decided not to break his head considering he got his dream post.
Change of stance isn't something new in politics. In the past too, several leaders have gone back on their words after receiving assurances from the High Command.

Will Kavuri follow suit?
