Karnataka Girl Gets Study Loan After Writing Letter To Modi

Karnataka: A student from Karnataka received a response letter from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which helped her to continue her studies.

Bibi Sara, a resident of Mandhya in Karnataka has a dream to pursue MBA degree. But the dream remained unfilled due to her family's financial condition. She approached a bank for loan, but to no avail as she was unable to repay it.

Sara's father who works in a sugar factory has not received his salary for eight months. The bank pointed out Sara's father was not able to repay the loan."I have applied for loan but the bank refused in spite of my good score, saying how will you repay as your father works at sugar factory which is not even paying his salary," Sara said.

Fed up with the obstacles that are coming her way, she wrote a letter to the PMO to provide loan to her under 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' campaign. To her surprise the PMO sent a response letter to the girl, providing a loan assistance of Rs1.5 lakh under the scheme.

"I was confident that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will respond, but I did not expect it to so fast," said Sara. "I got a reply in just 10 days," she said.

The day after she received the letter, Vijaya Bank sanctioned a loan of Rs1.5 lakh to Sara to pursue her MBA.
