Karimnagar Man Critical After Taking Clinical Drug Trial In Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Chiluveri Ashok Kumar, a resident of Kothapalli village in Jammikunta town of Karimnagar distict, is battling for life after he had undergone a clinical drug trial in Hyderabad recently.

The victim was admitted to hospital following severe health complications. Ashok had been taking part in the clinical trials for the past a few months as his family could not make both ends meet. The matter came to light after his family members lodged a complaint with the Jammikunta police on Monday.

It may be recalled that clinical drug trials had claimed two lives in Jammikunta town in July this year. Gorepu Chowdhary (38) and Vangara Nagaraju (39) died due to complications after the duo taken part in clinical drug trials in Bengaluru.

Clinical laboratories generally hire agents to lure youngsters for the drug research. The agents target gullible people who are mostly daily wage workers from Warangal, Khammam, Karimnagar and other parts of the state. It is learnt that there are about two lakh clinical trails volunteers in Telangana. The agents lure the people by promising them to pay between Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000 per one test.
