Now that the formation of Telangana appears imminent, the Congress High Command is understood to have decided to create two separate Pradesh Congress Committees for Telangana and Seemandhra.
Two names have been reportedly under consideration for the two PCC chief posts. Talk in the Congress circles is that State civil supplies minister D Sridhar Babu was selected for the for the post of Telangana PCC, while Minister Kanna Lakshmi Narayana as the new PCC chief for the Seemandhra region.
Responding to late night summons from the Congress high command, Kanna flew to Delhi on Monday to meet Congress president Sonia Gandhi. Kanna's meeting with Sonia left the state political circles abuzz with speculation about some indication that he will be made PCC chief for the Seemandhra region.
According to the political analysts, Kapus, said to be a majority community in the State, usually play important role in State politics and political outfits woo the Kapu vote bank with various means. Accordingly, Congress High Command also seems to allure Kapu community, while replacing Botsa, a Kapu leader, with another leader of same community, Kanna as PCC chief of Seemandhra.
