Journalist Arrested For Publishing Pre-poll Survey Of Nandyal By-election

Nandyal: A journalist was arrested on Saturday for publishing a pre-poll survey of Nandyal by-election on a news website.

Kuna Ajay Babu, who is working for regional news daily, published the survey on Netibharatam.com despite the norms laid by the Election Commission. Along with the post, the journalist also mentioned that the YSRCP candidate was going to win over TDP by 4,551 votes.

The pre-poll survey was believed to be leaked from the AP CMO and was published with the logo of AP government. Based on the complaint of Returning Officer, the journalist was arrested under the violation of Model Code of Conduct.

The voting for the Nandyal by-poll was held on August 23. TDP leader Bhuma Bramhananda Reddy won the election with a margin of 27,000 votes.
