Job Scam: Over 500 Youths Duped By IT Firm

The company’s mobile number is not working, the website has been blocked and its office has also been closed

Hyderabad: By promising highly paying jobs, an IT firm - PC Technology Pvt Ltd - duped 540 engineering graduates to the tune of Rs 1.35 crore.

The victims mostly from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Hyderabad (JNTU-H) lodged a complaint against the fraudulent company. They rued that the company collected Rs 25,000 from each by promising to provide a job after the completion of training. However, the company’s mobile number has stopped working, the website has been blocked and its office has also been closed.

“The company targeted students who were registered on various job portals. They contacted these unemployed students and asked them to appear for an interview. After students made the payment, owners of the company fled with the amount,” said J Ramesh Kumar, inspector, Gachibowli police station.

Ramesh said that the earlier too the company has defrauded over 600 aspirants from Mumbai and carried out the similar modus operandi in cities like Bengaluru, Chennai and Visakhapatnam.

“Most common position on offer was that of trainee software developer. Post training, we were assured of being attached to various projects,” said Hari Prasad Reddy from JNTUH.
