Jails DG condemns Chandrababu comments

TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu’s yesterday comments that the accused in the jails were consuming liquor and viewing blue films and also making settlements and murders from jail have received a strong reaction from Director General of Jails Department Krishnamraju on Thursday.

He said it was unfair to make such baseless allegations on the jails. The state jails have achieved a good reputation in the country.

The DG said it was totally wrong to comment that Jagan was using the jail as his party office. Jagan was provided with facilities which were special class inmates were entitled to get. Saying that TDP has obtained information on Jagan’s mulakhat through RTI, Krishnamraju said the jails were functioning as per the human rights protection laws and AP prison rules, 1979. It was unfortunate to make such comments against the jails, he maintained.
