Anchor Pradeep May Be Jailed For Drunken Driving 

Hyderabad: Jail term looms large over popular TV anchor Pradeep who was caught driving under the influence of alcohol in the wee hours of Monday after ringing in the New Year.

A breath analyser test on Pradeep recorded 178 Blood Alcohol Content (BAC), much beyond the permissible limits of 30 BAC. In such cases, courts award a simple imprisonment of one or two days but as the levels were too much in Pradeep, the jail term may go up to seven days or beyond, the police said.

Those caught driving under the influence are counselled by the police before being produced in the court. The anchor was expected to attend the counseling at Banjara Hills police station on Tuesday. He did not turn up till noon as there is a lot of media attention on the case. The police said he can attend counseling any time within seven days from the date of the incident. So, he may turn up at the police station some time late in the evening to avoid media glare.

Pradeep's car (TS07 EU6666) which was seized after he was found dirving drunk is still in the police custody. It will be returned to him after the counseling.

Meanwhile, a video created by the anchor with a message ‘Do not drink and drive’ has gone viral after he was booked for the same offence on Monday.
